Construction of wharf in Thilawa to start by end of 2017

    IN a bid to facilitate the export of rice and other products abroad through normal trade, a wharf supporting No.27,28 and 29 of Thilawa SEZ will be jointly starting by the end of 2017. The construction is slated to take about three years, said U Aung Win from the Myamar Agribusiness Public Corporation (MAPCO).

    With an aim enhancing the agriculture sector, agribusiness are permitted to work at No 27,28 and 29 plots of Thilawa. Myanmar Edible Oil Industrial Public Corporation Ltd (MEICO), Myanmar Agribusiness Public Corporation Ltd.(MAPCO) and Myanmar General Development Public Ltd (MAGDPL) are cooperating to build a port 590 meters long and 30 meters wide pier to handle freight. This project has been already approved by the Myanmar Investment Commission (MIC).

    The construction of this pier has been already services such as mechanised cultivation,supplying of inputs and fertilizers and implementation of a contract farming system to farmers in respective areas. However, crop drying and warehouse services will soon be available, according to the MAPCO.
