Agribusiness Service Centers to open across Myanmar

     TO MEET the requirements of local farmers, about 20 Agribusiness Service Centres (ASCs)are planned to be established across the country by the Myanmar Agribusiness Public Corporation (MAPCO),its Director U Aung Win said.

   Distribution of fertilizer, medicine and inputs, warehouse service,drying of crops and other services will be offered through the centers, with MAPCO planning to develop them in Yangon, Mandalay, Ayeyawady and Bago regions as well as the capital Nay Pyi Taw. Currently, nine centres have been established in Twantay, Maubin, Myaungmya, Thonegwa, Hinthada, Shwetaung, Letpadan and Kyaiklat towns, and Nay Pyi Taw, with MAPCO projecting to open 20 more ASCs in target areas.

  Some ASCs have started launching services such as mechanised cultivation ,supplying of inputs and fertilizers and implementation of a contract farming system to farmers in respective areas. However, crop drying and warehouse services will soon be available, according to the MAPCO.
